![]() But the repurcussions of leaving a young tree around for a while under a wind turbine are a lot worse than the repurcussions for doing so in an animal pen, so it doesnt translate well. Ie: Not a good mechanic for keeping wind turbines clear, but a good one for automating the otherwise opportunistic harvesting of fully grown plants. The system was implemented for removing inedible plants from animal pens, and extended a little for wind turbines. Requires a large clear space in front and behind for optimal air flow. Thanks! I'll set up a test bed just to check, but your explanation does explain the behavior. Wind turbine - RimWorld Wiki Wind turbine Last updated 8 days ago Wind turbine A wind-powered electrical generator. (b19) Though, it may be that the trees I looked at weren't fully grown, but still "old enough" to count for the manual "Wood Cutting" mechanic I used to clear them when I didn't think the mechanic was working properly. Pro tip: you can put solar panels in front of wind turbines to save space. Also, double check that nothing is blocking the wind turbine (trees, etc.) because that will lower its power output. But, I don't remember it working, either. Build another wind turbine and more batteries so it stores more power to help get you through times when wind is slow. IIRC, I also attempted to use that mechanic to automatically harvest trees to help keep killzones clear. ![]() So you can place them under wild berry bushes to automatically harvest them, or make large natural tree farms where your colonists don't plant any trees but just harvest the wild ones as they spread and grow.Īh, so they will remove "full grown" plants, but not smaller ones. If you compress it using 7ip or WinRAR (or likewise utility) then you might be able to upload it as an attachment (600kb limit), or failing that you can use a cloud storage service such as Dropbox or GoogleDrive to host the file and then post the download link (or a file sharing service such as Mega or Zippyshare if preferred). Turns out you can grow around the turbines themselves and still produce power. Low structures (such as crops or solar panels) dont block the wind. If you create a grow zone and disallow sowing colonists will mostly ignore it and only come in and harvest things that are 100% grown and ready for harvest. 4 Posted by u/silkydonut Blunts for all 4 years ago Stark realization about growing around wind turbines Discussion I used to think that planting around a wind turbine would hinder its productivity in producing power, hence i was wrong. The windturbine have white boxes infront and behind it when you select them, you cant have any large structures (walls, trees, etc) in those white boxes otherwise they wont work.
